The Fund looks for the following attributes in potential MFI partners, and while it can help develop some of them, the partner MFI needs to possess most others:

 A focus on financial services to the poor

 Sustainable and scaleable business model

 Ambition to run a successful, efficient and large microfinance operation

 Innovative ideas for service delivery

 Qualified and experienced management teams

 Sound debt servicing ability

 Capability and intent to generate returns on equity
